TEAM is bringing back TEAM Up 2 Win for its 2nd year! TEAM Up 2 Win
is a partnership between the TEAM Coalition and NCAA® which allows companies to celebrate NCAA March Madness®
while encouraging their staff to have fun, cheer on their favorite team and celebrate responsibility.
...they will be eligible to win a trip to Detroit for the 2009 NCAA® Men's Final Four. Companies can register their organization and find out more information at the TEAM Up 2 Win website, www.teamup2win.org. We hope you will consider joining this fun and worthwhile effort.
TEAM Coalition returned to the Super Bowl again this winter for the 5th straight year to promote and run the designated driver program within Raymond James Stadium during Super Bowl XLIII®. This year TEAM had volunteers from MillerCoors and the Florida community who staffed the 8 booths throughout the venue. Click here to view the event details and photos. Over 1,200 of fans made the pledge to enjoy the game responsibility by getting their family and friends home safely from the game. But there were two fans in particular who truly understood the rewards of responsibility: Jim VanSteenberg and Eric Mitzel attended the game as winners of the 2008 NFL Responsibility Has It Rewards (RHIR) sweepstakes. They had signed up as designated drivers at Heinz Field and University of Phoenix Stadium, respectively, during the course of the 2008 season and were chosen as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals Designated Drivers for the Season. Since their teams made it to Super Bowl XLIII® they each won a trip to the game. Another prize was awarded to one of the Designated Drivers of the Season whose team did not compete in the Super Bowl. The Designated Driver of the Season for the Seattle Seahawks, Jason Sandusky, received a trip to the 2009 Pro Bowl in Honolulu, HI. TEAM also enjoyed a huge presence in Tampa long before kickoff. During the NFL Experience, the NFL-themed carnival preceding the big game every year, TEAM took free souvenir photos and filmed responsibility videos for fans who made the RHIR pledge. Thousands of local and visiting fans made the commitment and walked away with a picture to commemorate the occasion.
TEAM is very please to announce a NEW Responsibility has its Rewards sweepstakes with the Milwaukee Brewers, Delaware North Sportservice and MillerCoors. When fans sign up to be designed drivers at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix, AZ during Spring Training, they are eligible to win 2 tickets to the 2nd game of the Milwaukee Brewers 2009 season against the Chicago Cubs on April 11, 2009. Along with the tickets the lucky fans also get to enjoy an on-field experience, a meal for 2 at the Metavante Club at Miller Park and hotel and airfare accommodations (if necessary). Stayed tuned for more information on this sweepstakes on the RHIR Web site!
#28 How long does it typically take a guest to process a 12 oz beer? Scientific research suggests that a healthy liver can process a half of an ounce of pure alcohol in about 1 hour. Question #28 asks how long it would take to process 12 oz of beer. Since 12 oz of beer has half of an ounce of pure alcohol, the correct answer is 1 hour. Older versions of the TEAM training guide book incorrectly stated that a healthy liver takes about an hour to process 1 oz of pure alcohol. We have corrected the trainer guide to reflect the lastest and most accurate research on how quickly a healthy liver processes alcohol. Please keep in mind that everybody reacts differently to alcohol every time we drink. So while drinking one 12 oz beer over the course of an hour should allow time for the body to process the alcohol, you should always plan ahead and have a sober designated driver whenever drinking alcohol is part of your plan for a night out.
2009 is turning out to be one of TEAM’s busiest years so far in our Instructor Development Program (IDP). A total of 9 IDP workshops were conducted at sports and entertainment facilities across the country so far this year. Over 120 new trainers became certified and 25 trainers recertified to date.
TEAM is busy scheduling new IDPs across the country. Here is the schedule of upcoming workshops for the spring and summer months:
Registration Deadline: April 8, 2009
Registration Deadline: May 5, 2009
Registration Deadline: May 27, 2009
TEAM is constantly traveling to promote our efforts in effective alcohol management and positive fan behavior. Here is the list of the events we plan to attend in the coming months.
