In 2005, more sports and entertainment facility employees became certified in the TEAM training program than in any other year in the organization's history. Nearly 24,000 ushers, ticket takers, guest services employees, security personnel, suite attendants, and beer servers completed the training program.

Over 20% of employees trained have job functions in the facilities other than serving alcohol. Leagues represented in this training accomplishment include MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, and NHL. Concessionaires represented include Aramark, Centerplate, Diamond Creations, Levy Restaurants, MGR Food Service, Restaurant Associates, and Sportservice. Also represented are Clear Channel Entertainment venues.

Those teams, facilities, concessionaires, and individual trainers who trained the most employees are being recognized by their leagues and companies over the next several months. To see the complete list of all 2005 training award winners, click here.

Each month in 2006, TEAM will host Instructor Development Program (IDP) workshops at sports and entertainment facilities across the country. By attending and passing the trainer certification exam, facility and concessionaire managers become certified TEAM trainers for a period of two years. Trainers receive all the materials necessary to conduct team training in effective alcohol management at their facility for their staff. Here is the schedule of upcoming workshops:

  • January 11th and 12th in Cincinnati, OH at the Great American Ball Park, home of the Cincinnati Reds
  • January 31st and February 1st in New York, NY at Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees
  • March 7th and 8th in Charlotte, NC at Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers

To register for an upcoming IDP, click here.

TEAM is constantly looking for ways to improve its training program and make it more cost-effective for the teams, facilities, and concessionaires that participate. In 2006, new features and functionality will be made available, like a mid-certification refresher course for employees, online exams for both trainers and employees, online manual orders and registrations including credit card payment, and greater reporting functionality.

But before all the new features are available, TEAM is starting the year off by lowering our prices for employee manuals. Here are the new prices for employee manuals (prices are per manual).

  • Standard Price                               $13.00
  • Bulk Discount for 500+                   $12.50
  • Bulk Discount for 1,000+                $12.00
  • IAAM or SMA Member Discount       $12.00

TEAM is thrilled to partner with the NFL, Coors Brewing Company, and the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning on a special Super Bowl promotion for responsible alcohol consumption and positive fan behavior. NFL fans in the state of Michigan will have two opportunities to demonstrate responsible behavior and have a chance at winning a very special reward. At retailers across the state - including CVS, Rite Aid, Meijers, and Farmer Jack, fans can pick up information about the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes. Registration for the designated driver promotion is online at www.rhir.org.

At the NFL Experience at the COBO Event Center in Detroit, fans will have the opportunity to film their very own traffic safety message about always having a sober designated driver and buckling up - every trip every time as part of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign.

The U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is supporting this promotion by producing creative materials for all state highway safety offices to use nationwide during the month of January in anticipation of the Super Bowl.
