"On event days, one of our biggest concerns is to make sure our guests enjoy a safe, comfortable environment, and that means making sure fans drink responsibly. By using TEAM training and materials, it has really united the staff around the goal of making our events enjoyable and fun for everyone."

–Bill Squires, President, Stadium Managers Association

The Responsibility Has Its Rewards (RHIR) promotion continues to reach out to fans who pledge to always have a designated driver, never drive drunk, and wear their safety belts. All fans who participated in the promotion had the opportunity to film their own traffic safety public service message in addition to receiving a free souvenir photo. In the last six months, ten RHIR events have reached thousands of fans.

During the past few months, TEAM has been hard at work producing several new public service announcements heralding the importance of positive fan behavior. The footage was collected from the many Responsibility Has Its Rewards events organized throughout the nation. Fans were recorded reading the safety message entreating fellow fans to never drive drunk and always buckle up. If you are interested in hosting an RHIR event at your facility or venue, please call us at 877-2-TEAM-CO (877-283-2626) or email us at info@teamcoalition.org.

Robert Bowles joined TEAM Coalition in September of 2006 as a part-time employee helping us with the training data and exam processing. His professional experience boasts a long and respected career as an economist for the U.S. Department of Energy and the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired several years ago but then felt inspired to continue his professional pursuits. An avid Red Sox fan, he finds TEAM to be a perfect fix for his lifelong love of baseball. Bob enjoys long walks (to and from the TEAM office), listening to his iPod, and driving through Rock Creek Park with the convertible top down.

About once a month in 2007, TEAM will host Instructor Development Program (IDP) workshops at sports and entertainment facilities across the country. By attending and passing the trainer certification exam, facility and concessionaire managers become certified TEAM trainers for a period of two years. Trainers receive all the materials necessary to conduct team training in effective alcohol management at their facility for their staff. Please let us know if you are interested in hosting a future IDP

Here is the schedule of upcoming workshops:

  • April 17th and 18th in Denver, CO at Pepsi Center
  • June 5th and 6th in Washington, DC at Verizon Center
  • June 19th and 20th in Minneapolis, MN at the Metrodome
  • October 23rd and 24th in Milwaukee, WI at Miller Park

To register for an upcoming IDP, click here

We offer a few reminders and tips for your future TEAM training sessions:

  • Please make note that all exam results and mail correspondence should be sent to us at:

    TEAM Coalition
    1800 Diagonal Road, Suite 600
    Alexandria, VA 22314

  • All state legal alcohol information is available online in PDF form through our website. Log in using your trainer ID and email address.
  • Trainers can print replacement TEAM certification cards. Again, this is available through our website accessed by logging in as a trainer.
  • When ordering training manuals, please place the order as far in advance as possible in order to ensure their availability. Additionally, please allow at least a few days for us to process any exam forms you send in.
  • Make sure all exams are stacked together and facing the same direction. Evaluation forms should be stacked together in a separate pile.
  • In order to expedite exam processing, we ask that you group together the exams of the different organizations or non-profits participating in the session.
  • A reminder that TEAM participant manuals and exam questions are available in Spanish, French and Portuguese upon request.
  • To qualify for the online recertification exam, trainers must have trained at least 4 sessions or had at least 80 employees pass the exam during their most recent certification period. Also, a trainer can recertify with the online exam every other recertification period. On the alternate years, trainers must recertify by attending a TEAM Instructor Development Program (IDP) workshop.

We would appreciate any additional feedback or best practices you would like to share.
