TEAM joined the Chicago Bears, MillerCoors, Delaware North Companies Sportservice and the Illinois Department of Transportation to expand on the “You Hold the Key, Never Drive Drunk” campaign with the Bears. During the upcoming 2009 NFL season fans who pledge to be designated drivers will receive a key to try and unlock a treasure chest of valuable prizes at Soldier Field. TEAM visited the Chicago Bears draft day party on April 25th and filmed fans to voice their message of responsibility that will be used to make the Public Service Announcement that will air on the Soldier Field video board all season long. The goal is to have 10,001 designeted drivers for the Bears by seasons end!

As the four remaining teams battle it out to reach the 2009 NBA Finals®, four excited fans are closely watching the outcome of the games. Thousands of fans at arenas all across the league pledged during the 2008-2009 NBA season to be designated drivers and two lucky fans will truly feel the rewards of responsibility. Whichever two NBA teams reach the Finals, those Designated Drivers of the Season will be there to cheer on their team at their first game played at their home arena. Designated Drivers of the Season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic will soon find out if they will be attending a game at the NBA Finals!

The United States Navy Southwest and TEAM invited Navy personnel to make the Responsibility Has Its Rewards pledge to Be a HERO, Be a Designated Driver, never drive drunk, and always buckle up and earn valuable rewards: At the US Navy Safety Fairs at the Coronado Naval Air Station and the Naval Base San Diego, Naval personnel made the Responsibility Has Its Rewards pledge and received a souvenir photo with a branded frame including the campaign partners' logos and the campaign's responsibility message. Retired Captain Jack Ensch, Director of Military Marketing for the San Diego Padres, spoke at the press conference to kick-off the event.

On May 13th, Jeff Mendoza received our grand prize for the day - an authentic, game-worn camouflage Padres jersey autographed by Edgar Gonzalez. On May 14th, Mardon Y. Dayrit received an autographed Antonio Cromartie jersey. And two Chargers Girls posed for photos with everyone who made the responsibility pledge. .

This summer concert season Live Nation and TEAM are launching a brand new Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign with Live Nation’s northeast venues. Concert goers at 10 venues this summer will have the opportunity to make the pledge to be responsible music fans and to always have a designated driver when attending a show. Each venue will then select Designated Driver for the 2009 summer concert series that will then be rewarded with two tickets to concert of their choice for the 2010 summer concert season. Designated Drivers from the 10 participating venues will then be entered into a random drawing to win the grand prize of 2 tickets to any concert at a Live Nation venue anywhere in the country! We’ll see you at the shows!

May brought two more partnerships with Major League Baseball clubs as TEAM traveled to Cleveland, OH to film responsibility messages with Indians fans and to Miami Gardens, FL to film responsibility messages with the Marlins. Also while in Cleveland, TEAM recorded fans to sing their message of responsibility to the tune of “Take me Out to the Ballgame” to be included in an upcoming radio PSA! Thank you to both the Indians and Marlins for always promoting the message of responsible fan behavior.

2009 is looking to be a big year for MLS clubs to film fan PSAs and May was no exception. Two more MLS clubs joined together with TEAM to deliver the Responsibility Has Its Rewards message to its fans. TEAM first traveled to Denver, CO to film fans at Dick Sporting Goods Park with the Colorado Rapids in early May. Even though it was a chilly night, hundreds of fans made the pledge of responsibility as they watched the Rapids defeat Real Salt Lake 2-0.

TEAM also visited Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX to film more fan PSAs with FC Dallas. About 40 groups of fans stopped by the TEAM booth to voice their message about always having a designated driver. Even the “The Matadors” and “The Inferno”, FC Dallas supporter groups, stopped by the booth as well as the FC Dallas Dancers. Thanks again to FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids for their support!

This past month Program Associate Maggie Russell left TEAM to move back home to Buffalo and continue her career there. Maggie wants to thank everyone for making her time here very enjoyable. She was a tremendous asset to the TEAM family and will surely be missed. Join us in wishing her all the best in her future endeavors!
