Below are the Top 8 Things Trainers Do To Slow Down Exam Processing. We realize we are maximizing the capacity of our current system to process all the exams we receive in a timely fashion. While this is a great problem to have, we understand that it is a problem. TEAM is taking steps to solve this challenge by increasing the size of our training processing department. But we also ask you, our valued trainers, to help us help you streamline the process. If you have any questions about any of these items, or are unsure about something, please do not hesitate to email us at info@teamcoalition.org.

  1. Trainers send exam sheets with bubbles filled-in incorrectly. Make sure that all bubbles that need to be filled-in are filled-in. And those bubbles that should not be filled-in are not (bubbles for questions #31-50 should be left blank). Please consider providing your employees with pencils with erasers for the exam. Mistakes made in pen slow down processing.

  2. Trainers send exam sheets with the Date of Birth field or Social Security Number field filled-in incorrectly. Please tell your employees to leave these fields blank if they do not want to provide this information. Entering all 0s or drawing an X across the fields only slows down the system.

  3. Trainers send an unorganized stack of exams from a session with multiple accounts and non-profit organizations represented. Collating the exams by account and non-profit organization in advance of sending us the exams saves an enormous amount of exam processing time. Anything you can do in this regard would help us tremendously.

  4. Trainers send a stack of exams and evaluations either alternating one exam and one evaluation or some much less organized intermixing of the two forms. Collating the exams from the evaluations in advance of sending us the forms would also save significant exam processing time.

  5. Trainers send incomplete session rosters or none at all. The session roster tells us the date of the training, who the trainers were and the accounts and facilities represented by the people you have trained. Incomplete or missing session rosters slows down exam processing.

  6. Trainers send a box filled with exams from multiple sessions and all the session rosters on the top of the pile. When this happens, we process the whole stack of exams as one big session trained by all the trainers listed on all the session rosters and we use the most recent date on any one of the rosters as the date of the training. Any effort to try and organize the exam forms and assign them to the appropriate session roster by reading the names written on the rosters takes an extremely long time. And - you guessed it - it slows down exam processing.

  7. Trainers schedule people to work the day after they complete the TEAM training class. Please plan accordingly when planning your training classes and scheduling your staff to work. You must allow 10 business days from the day TEAM Coalition receives your exams to the day you receive the results. Any urgent requests we receive for rush processing slows down the system for everyone else who planned appropriately.

  8. FOR MARYLAND TRAINERS ONLY: Trainers send exams without the complete address fields, written legibly. Make sure participant exams include a LEGIBLE address entered on the back of the exam form. This information is only required in Maryland. And for trainers in Maryland, we cannot complete exam processing without it!

Each year, nearly 40,000 sports and entertainment facility employees become certified in the TEAM alcohol management program nationwide. Those employees interact with millions of fans each year. Whenever possible, TEAM embraces the opportunity to share a success story that illustrates the value of TEAMwork.

In August 2010, a security professional whose job assignment was to prevent fans from jumping from the stands onto the field of an NFL stadium noticed a woman near the front row of the sideline stands who was demonstrating significant warning signs of impairment. She was accompanied by a young boy - later identified as her son - but no other adult was with them. Knowing the protocol from TEAM training, the security staff member made a call to his supervisor.

The head of security for the stadium and one of his managers made their way to the guest and her son. The focus of their visit was not to judge the woman or accuse her of anything. They simply asked how she was getting home. Upon learning of her intention to drive home, the security staff used the indirect strategies of patience and politeness. Eventually they persuaded the woman to call her brother-in-law and request a ride home after the game.

After enjoying the remainder of the game in her seat with her son (and her two security escorts) and without drinking any more alcohol, the woman and her son were led by security to the State police office to wait for their ride.

No official ejection was made. And the well-being of the guest, her son and all the other drivers and passengers on the roads after that game were made a little safer.

Bill Squires, a master trainer with TEAM, has a unique opportunity for all of us to help in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. Click on this link to vote and help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation win $250,000. That money will be used to purchase the hypertonic saline used in a new study, to assemble a team of medical experts to coordinate and monitor the study, and to package, label and ship hypertonic saline and study materials.
