TEAM Coalition wishes everyone a very safe and happy holiday season. Thank you for making 2009 such a RESPONSIBLE year!
TEAM is proud to share all 31 Public Service Announcements we filmed with sports leagues, teams, facilities, concessionaires, beer companies, distributors, broadcasters, stadium service providers, state offices of highway safety and law enforcement agencies. The result - over half a million fans pledged to be designated drivers! And that's in addition to 35,000 facility employees certified in TEAM training in 2009. Here's to an even more responsible (and successful) 2010!
Elite works closely with both the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego Padres. In 2009, Elite certified nearly 1,000 employees in TEAM's effective alcohol management program earning Elite our Championship Performance training award.
The San Diego Chargers take the enforcement of their team code of conduct very seriously. They recognize that fan behavior or lack of proper fan behavior not only has an immediate impact on the enjoyment of the game by fans, but has a long term impact. As fans decide to return to see future games, they remember their past experiences.
The Chargers memorialized the Code of Conduct for the 2006 season and actively enforced its’ tenets. Over the past three seasons, over 700 season tickets were cancelled. The training of personnel to know and recognize potential issues is important to the proper fan experience, whether that be through TEAM training or making sure staff are cognizant and observant. All staff are involved, however Elite, their security contractor, provides over 50 trained alcohol management officers at each game who specialize in identifying issues before they become problems. Charger fans have come to expect pro-active actions in ensuring that their experience is what they expect. The Chargers and Elite strive to establish a standard that others can aspire to.

TEAM once again attended the NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Series in Chattanooga, TN. Fans came to support the Villanova Wildcats and Montana Grizzlies at Finley Stadium for the pre-game activities. TEAM spread its message of responsible fan behavior and traffic safety.
Fans received souvenir photos with the campaign message on the photo border after making the Responsibility Has Its Rewards pledge to:
- Always Have a Designated Driver
- Never Drive Drunk
- Always Buckle Up - Every Trip, Every Time
- Never Provide Alcohol to Anyone Under the Age of 21

After a year of filming a record-setting 31 Public Service Announcements, TEAM would like to offer a special holiday treat to anyone who is interested...we have the backdrops (8 ft tall by 10 ft wide with grommets on the top and sides) from many of the fan PSA filmings. If you would like TEAM to send you one of these backdrops, to decorate your office, home or whatever you choose, just let us know. The PSAs are all listed on the TEAM Holiday Card. Please just let us know - backdrops will be sent on a first come, first served basis!

Do you need some ID guidebooks for your concession stands, portables or guest services booths? Do your employees know what date of birth is legal to drink in all 50 states? Here's a hint, the year is 1988 or older! TEAM Coalition has a large supply of 2009 ID guide books available. These books include samples of valid IDs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Canadian provinces. We would be happy to send you as many as you need. And when our supply of 2010 ID guide books arrive, we'll be sure to make those available to you too. Having ID guide books at all points of sale are a great deterrent for underage drinkers and a great reminder to your employees to check IDs!
TEAM is thrilled to recognize all the trainers, sports teams, security and staffing organizations and concessionaires that earned awards from TEAM Coalition for certifying so many employees and non-profit volunteers in 2009! Congratulations to all our training award winners!
Beer goggles are something that many of us are familiar with, if not in practice then at least in concept. However a company called Innocorp has designed an actual pair of "Fatal Vision" goggles that replicate the effects of an increased BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) when worn.
TEAM Coalition has successfully used these "beer goggles" at trade shows and at TEAM training sessions to engage people, especially those who think they have a high tolerance. These goggles prove an important point - tolerance is nothing more than the body's ability to mask the signs of impairment. And without practice, even the most confident of "high-tolerance" drinkers find walking a straight line while wearing these goggles a challenge.
The cost is $149 per pair. And you can select the BAC level. TEAM Coalition has not been paid to give this endorsement. We simply want to keep TEAM training a lively and engaging part of your employee training. And we want to share valuable tools. Enjoy!
