Houston Astros embrace Responsibility Has Its Rewards

The dominant 5 - 1 victory over the Florida Marlins on April 13th gave Astros fans many reasons to celebrate. And the Astros, Texas Department of Transportation, Anheuser-Busch, and TEAM Coalition partnered to educate Astros fans about the importance of designating a driver, buckling up, and demonstrating positive fan behavior. And the spokespeople for this important message were the Astros fans themselves. Hundreds of Astros fans filmed more than 60 responsibility videos.
Click here to see the Astros PSAs View the Astros Fan Messages NATIONAL CAMPAIGN: Responsibility Has Its Rewards^™ RHIR PARTNERS INCLUDE: Houston Astros Texas Department of Transportation Anheuser-Busch TEAM Coalition (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management) For four consecutive seasons, TEAM Coalition and Major League Baseball have supported the designated driver programs at all MLB stadiums with a special incentive as part of the *Responsibility Has Its Rewards* sweepstakes for designated drivers. Every stadium offers fans a designated driver program. Fans who register to be a designated driver pledge to stay sober, drive their friends and family home safely, and ensure that everyone always buckles up. At the end of the season, one designated driver from each Club will be selected as the designated driver for the season. The designated drivers for the season from the Clubs that compete in the World Series^® will each receive two (2) tickets to the first game played at their favorite Club’s home stadium. A second prize will also be awarded to one of the designated drivers for the season whose favorite Club does not play in the World Series^®. That lucky designated driver will win a trip to the 2009 MLB All-Star Game^® at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO including two (2) tickets to the game, roundtrip airfare, and hotel accommodations (if necessary). This prize will be awarded after both the American League and National League Pennant Winners have been determined. The videos that Astros fans filmed on April 13, 2008 will be used to produce Public Service Announcements to support the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes. The final PSAs will be offered to local broadcasters and air online as well as on the stadium videoboard throughout the remainder of the 2008 season. Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol, and fail to buckle up.
