Philadelphia Eagles embrace Responsibility Has Its Rewards

back

As Philadelphia Eagles fans watched their favorite team select many future NFL stars at the 2008 Draft Party on April 26th, Eagles fans have many reasons to celebrate.

  • Trevor Laws, DT, #47 overall, acquired from MIN, Ht: 6-1 Wt: 304, College: Notre Dame
  • DeSean Jackson, WR, #49 overall, Ht: 6-0 Wt: 178, College: Cal
At this exciting event, the Philadelphia Eagles and TEAM Coalition partnered to educate Eagles fans about the importance of designating a driver, buckling up, and demonstrating positive fan behavior. And the spokespeople for this important message were the Eagles fans themselves. Hundreds of Eagles fans filmed more than 80 responsibility videos.

NATIONAL CAMPAIGN: Responsibility Has Its Rewards

For five consecutive seasons, TEAM Coalition and the National Football League have supported the designated driver programs at all NFL stadiums with a special incentive as part of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes for designated drivers. Every stadium offers fans a designated driver program. Fans who register to be a designated driver pledge to stay sober, drive their friends and family home safely, and ensure that everyone always buckles up.

At the end of the season, one designated driver from each team will be selected as the designated driver for the season. The designated drivers for the season from the two teams that compete in the Super Bowl® will each receive a trip to the game including two (2) tickets to the game, roundtrip airfare, and hotel accommodations (if necessary).

A second prize will also be awarded to one of the designated drivers for the season whose favorite team does not play in the Super Bowl®. That lucky designated driver will win a trip to the 2009 Pro Bowl® at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, HI including two (2) tickets to the game, roundtrip airfare, and hotel accommodations (if necessary). This prize will be awarded after both the AFC and NFC Champions have been determined.

The videos that Eagles fans filmed on April 26, 2008 will be used to produce Public Service Announcements to support the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes. The final PSAs will be offered to local broadcasters and air online as well as on the stadium videoboard throughout the 2008 season.

US DOT / NHTSA 2007 NATIONAL DATA:
  • In 2007, 12,998 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related (BAC > 0.08) car crashes, a decline of 3.7% from the 13,491 fatalities in 2006
  • Many, if not most of those lives would have been saved if people did not drive when they were impaired by alcohol or if they used sober, designated drivers or if they simply wore their seat belts.
  • Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol, and fail to buckle up.
