TEAM Coalition Training Summary (PDF)
The TEAM Instructor Development Program (IDP) Training is a
two-day inter-league course designed to:
1) help you assess and refine your
current alcohol policies and
2) provide you with the tools needed to teach your
alcohol policies and procedures to your staff, empowering them with the
skills necessary to take effective action and maintain good guest relations.
The curriculum was written by and for facility operations managers.
Who should attend?
If you're responsible for training event-day staff, either concessions or operations, in a professional venue, TEAM training
is for you. You should have public speaking experience, strong
interpersonal skills, knowledge of employee responsibilities, and a thorough
understanding of your facility's alcohol policies and procedures.
Who are the trainers?
The training is taught by our national cadre of TEAM Master Trainers,
made up of your peers in the industry. They know the challenges you face at your facility and have innovative
solutions to share.
What will I learn?
After attending the TEAM IDP, you will be certified to train your employees to recognize signs of impairment; understand
how the misuse of alcohol affects them, co-workers, guests, the facility and the community; and manage alcohol effectively by
working together as a team. You will receive the necessary tools to train your staff, including a PowerPoint presentation and a
CD of realistic role-playing scenarios to give your staff the opportunity to practice what they've learned.
Will I be certified to serve alcohol?
After completing our program and passing the certification exam, you will be certified to train individuals at your facility.
Trainer certification is good for 2 years. When you train your employees, they will also become certified by passing a certification
exam. Employee certification is good for 3 years. Employee training in effective alcohol management provides one of the strongest
"reasonable efforts" of your facility’s commitment to responsible alcohol consumption, which is the best defense in the event of a liability suit.
What are the associated costs?
The standard registration fee to attend the two-day workshop is $600. Members of
IAAM (International Association of Assembly Managers) and SMA (Stadium Managers
Association) receive a discount of $100. Travel expenses must be paid separately.
Additionally, certified trainers must purchase a manual for each employee they train
at their home facility. The manuals include all the alcohol management training material
including an exam sheet. Manuals are $13.00 each. Discounts for IAAM and SMA members apply.
Volume discounts are also available for purchases of 500 manuals or more. See prices.
